Why move from Illinois to Indiana

Low Cost of Living

Not only is Indiana packed with things to do, but residents can afford to do them because it is one of the most affordable states in the country. In fact, U.S. News ranks Indiana #3 for Housing Affordability and #2 for Overall affordability. The cost of living in Indiana is 9% below the national average, meaning that your dollar will go much further when you are buying a home or even a cart of groceries. Indiana also has a lower state income tax than many other states, at just 3.23%. Furthermore, property taxes in Illinois are nearly triple those in Indiana! This entices many families to move from Illinois to Indiana for a better quality of life. I guess the saying holds true when it comes to these two states, “the grass really is greener on the other side.”

Excellent Schools

Families that move to Indiana will be thrilled to hear that is has some of the best schools in the Midwest. In fact, more than 200 schools in Indiana have received a Four Star rating in recent years. In addition to its excellent public schools, Indiana is also home to a number of highly ranked colleges and universities including Purdue University, Valparaiso University, Butler University, University of Notre Dame, and Indiana University.

Job Opportunities

Indiana has always been a leader in agriculture and manufacturing, contributing to a number of job opportunities in each of these fields. In recent years, however, the technology sector has found its way into the state. Indianapolis was recently ranked #6 on the list of Next Top Cities for Tech Jobs. Thanks to the state’s affordability, more and more businesses are beginning to take root in Indiana which, in turn, has opened up the possibilities for professionals to advance their careers more quickly than they could in a larger metropolis.
